FAME - Based on the screenplay by Christopher Gore. Conceived by David De Silva. Adapted by Christopher Sergel.
"You want fame? Well, fame costs. And right here is where you start paying." "Right here" is the School of Performing Arts in New York City, and the first problem for the hundreds of young people eager to start paying their dues in pursuit of fame in the performing arts is to get accepted. As the play begins, the school is in the midst of auditioning applicants. They're every size, shape and attitude. They're scared, they're brave, they're rich and they're poor. They've got nothing in common but a compelling dream—and each pursues it in a special way

Artist Gretchen Smith joins SDCAP for Art Around Adams
Art Around Adams is a two-mile music and art walk through the Adams Avenue Business District that brings together cool art, funky shops, and great vibes. This year the event will hit the street on Saturday, June 4, from noon until 8:00 p.m. San Diego Creative Arts Project is proud to be involved as both a host site and a participant for this ecclectic celebration.
SDCAP will perform excerpts from the upcoming production of FAME beginning at 1:10 p.m. on the Adams Ave. Car Wash Stage located at 3302 Adams Ave. See our talented young actors present songs and dances from this popular musical, and prepare yourself for our full performances at The Academy of Our Lady of Peace on June 10 and 11.

Artist: Gretchen Smith
"My philosophy is that art is the greatest expression of faith. "
Gretchen M. Smith has been producing work professionally for nearly 20 years. Typically her work is categorized as abstract expressionist paintings but she works in many media and basically follows God’s lead. Currently she is working on installations and group projects exploring the dynamics of the human interactions of the artists participating in the projects. She seeks to exhibit her work in venues that encourage cultural and religious gaps to be bridged through faith-based abstract visual art. Ms. Smith is interested in pursuing large scale kinetic public art projects that integrate water, video, and non-traditional mural materials in venues that reach large demographically diverse groups.
